MEET YOUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Margaret is a homeschool mom to four amazing SGA students and has a PhD in Education Administration from Clemson University. She attended Virginia Tech for her Masters in Architecture and Appalachian State University for her Bachelors in Interior Architecture and she teaches architecture courses at Blinn College. Margaret was a multi-sport athlete in high school and college and has coached for rec, school, and club athletic teams in two states since 2012. She has been married to her husband, Kyle, since 2003 and they love to cheer for their teams and kids together. She also leads the Buddy Program at her church, Oconee Fellowship, which ministers to the neurodivergent and their families. Most importantly, Margaret loves Jesus and believes sports are a form of worship. She knows the Athletics program at Scholars Guild will ultimately bring Him glory.

Dakota Boeckman

Head Coach, V and JV Boys Basketball

Dakota Boeckman is an SGA graduate. He played multiple sports in high school. He earned All Region and All State awards in baseball, basketball, and football. He helped lead his teams to Region and State Championships. Dakota is an insurance agent for Jackson Insurance. He enjoys investing in the lives of youth through sports with the ultimate goal of leading them to Christ.

Joe Brinkmann

Head Coach, MS Boys Basketball

Joe and his wife, Stephanie, have two kids at SGA (along with three more at home), and they are eager to continue seeing the SGA athletics community grow. He has an M.A. in Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary which has nothing to do with basketball. However, he does view basketball as an activity that God uses to help shape young men into mature men both physically and spiritually. He has seen this in his own life from playing and coaching basketball beginning in his middle school years. 

Hannah Brooks

Assistant Coach, V Volleyball

My name is Hannah Brooks. I have been married to my high school sweetheart Beau since 2007. I have three children Ellie, Dawson, and Walker. We have been at SGA since 2019 and have loved being apart of this community! I have had the privilege of coaching volleyball since 2019 and look forward to being the Assistant Coach to the varsity volleyball team.  Philippians 2:3-4 

Rachel Capes

Head Coach, MS Cheer Squad

I'm Rachel Capes, mom to four kids (three boys aged 14-10 and one girl). I teach geography and world history at Scholars Guild. My boys love sports and will all be playing basketball this year. My daughter and I are excited to cheer them on and dive into our new adventure in cheerleading.

Zac Caudell

Head Coach, V Boys Soccer

Zac is a father to five incredibly attractive kids, all of whom get their looks from his wife, Dawn. Three of them currently attend SGA and the other two are not far behind. He has a Bachelor of Science from Berry College, where he met and later married his wife in 2003. He has played multiple sports from the time he was old enough to walk all the way up until now, where his knees and back keep telling him he may soon be too old to walk. He attends Grace New Hope Church in Lawrenceville where he leads a high school boys D-group and his wife sings on the worship team. He loves his wife, his kids, the fall, hardwood floors, racquetball, and helping others experience the joy of a life centered around Jesus.

Lee Childers

Head Coach, V Softball

Background: Coach Lee brings extensive experience and a deep passion for softball to every team he coaches. With multiple years of coaching at various levels, from youth leagues to the high school team, Coach Lee is dedicated to developing both the skills and character of his players.

Coaching Philosophy: Coach Lee believes in a balanced approach to coaching that emphasizes both individual skill development and team cohesion. His coaching philosophy centers around discipline, hard work, and sportsmanship, ensuring that players not only improve their on-field abilities but also grow as individuals.

Community Involvement: Coach Lee is actively involved in the local softball community, volunteering with Walton County Rec softball coaching and organizing workouts to promote the sport and develop young talent.

Personal: Outside of coaching, Coach Lee enjoys anything outside, fishing and time with his family in Monroe. His dedication to softball extends beyond the field, as he strives to inspire the next generation of athletes both on and off the diamond.

Coach Lee looks forward to bringing his expertise and enthusiasm for softball to SGA, where he aims to continue fostering a love for the game while achieving competitive success.

Wesley Farris

Head Coach, V Bass Fishing

Wesley Farris is a lifelong outdoorsman, and delights in teaching kids to fish. He started out like many others, targeting bass and bluegill on small ponds and lakes, but has in recent years spent a lot of time with his boys pursuing saltwater gamefish. He is a boat enthusiast and has logged thousands of hours on the water.

 Wesley and his wife, Jennifer, have 4 children, all homeschooled, with two currently attending SGA. The family attends Bethlehem Church. Wesley and Jennifer both accepted Christ many years ago and have since served in different churches and various capacities.

 In his spare time, Wesley enjoys working as Director of Continuous Improvement for a multi-national manufacturer of distribution transformers.

Josh Fuller

Head Coach, V Golf

Josh is best known as the husband of Elisabeth, his high school sweetheart. They have two children who attend SGA and two more who can’t wait to start. Josh owns a marketing firm headquartered in Covington and also serves as a ruling elder at Haynes Creek Church, a PCA Presbyterian church in Loganville.

 As the son of a college basketball coach, Josh loves all athletics and the life skills that can be learned through competition and teamwork. Over the years, Josh has coached middle school football, youth basketball, youth soccer, and most recently served as the assistant golf coach at Peachtree Academy.

We are Matt & Maggie Greene and are so excited to coach cross country this year. We have 4 kids ages 5-14 and have been with SGA for 5 years.  In the past we have coached softball together and love to help young athletes reach their fullest potential. We are looking forward to a fantastic season! Go Spartans!

Melissa Harris

Assistant Coach, MS Volleyball

I'm Melissa Harris, mom to four amazing kids.

I bring a fresh perspective to volleyball with experience in coaching both recreational volleyball and softball. My passion for fitness drives me to integrate effective training regimens, and I am currently pursuing certification in sports performance to enhance my coaching skills.

I am dedicated to inspiring athletes to achieve their best, both on and off the court. My goal is to build a volleyball program where our SGA athletes can thrive and give the glory to God.

Julie Lawson

Head Coach, V Girls Soccer

Julie and her husband Neal are parents to 4 amazing homeschooled children, 3 of whom attend/ed SGA. Julie is now teaching at SGA, and is excited to contribute to the school's soccer program. She started playing at 8 years old, and the coach (her father), let her name her first soccer team- the "Angels". Julie played and refereed throughout highschool, continued to play recreationally, and began coaching in college. Her children's interest in soccer led her to coach their teams. Now that her youngest plays baseball, Julie is looking forward to sharing her love of soccer as a coach at Scholar's Guild.

Brian Lunsford

Head Coach, Girls Flag Football

I’m Brian Lunsford… husband to “the wonderful and amazing” Sara Lunsford and dad to 3 awesome kiddos… Selah, Eleanora, and Asher. For the past 5 years, I have been serving as the Theatre Technical Director for Scholars Guild. With 8 years of competitive flag football under my belt… I am excited and honored for the opportunity to be the Girls Varsity Flag Football Coach.

Jason McIlvain

Assistant Coach, V Boys Basketball

After High School in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Jason played collegiate basketball and was a starter in a two-year program at Florida College. FC is a bible based small college with around 600 students in Temple Terrace, FL (Tampa area). While completing undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida, Jason was a student assistant coach at Florida College for 2 years.

Jason and his wife Jennifer are actively involved with supporting the college as directors for the FCGA Summer Camp in north Georgia for 5th grade through seniors in high school. For the last 10 years, Jason has been coaching basketball at all recreation youth levels for grade school through middle school in Dacula, GA. Additionally, Jason has coached travel baseball programs between 9U through 15U for the Mountainview and Gwinnett Stripers youth programs. Jason and his wife Jennifer have been married for over 20 years and have 3 kids. Jason also serves at a deacon in the Embry Hills church of Christ.

Natalie Minor

Head Coach, JV Volleyball

My name is Natalie Minor. I have been married to my husband, Chris, since 1998. I have five children: Emily, Lainey, Cason, Sidney, and Harley. My family’s first year at SGA was 2023. I became interested in learning the game of volleyball when my girls first started playing in 2018. I began coaching in 2021 and my first year at SGA was 2023. I look forward to being the head coach of JV this season.

Brian Robinson

Assistant Coach, V Girls Flag Football and V Softball

Brian is a husband to Heather and a father to four great kids, Emma, Noah, Finley and Mazie. Emma and Noah are students at the University of Georgia, where Brian graduated way back in 1999 with a business degree. Finley and Mazie are students here at SGA, and they love it. He is the owner of LOGANVILLE Auto Center and has a deep appreciation for the Loganville community. His family has attended and served at FBCLoganville for about 15 years. Brian has coached youth football, basketball, baseball and softball.

Michelle Rush

Head Coach, MS Volleyball

Michelle is a preschool teacher and homeschool mom of 2, wife to Jason, and holds a Bachelors in Marketing from Marshall University. She is actively involved with the children’s ministry at Anchor Church. Michelle was a competitive cheerleader beginning at a young age and all throughout high school. She is incredibly excited for this volleyball season and to grow our student-athletes both in tbe sport and their relationship with the Lord.

Kira Sikoryak

Head Coach, MS Girls Soccer; Assistant Coach, V Girls Soccer

Kira and her husband Rick have been married since 2004 with three incredible children: Jeremy, Joshua, and Abby. The Sikoryaks have been blessed to be a part of the SGA family since 2017. She has served as a children’s ministry leader and loves to pour into the hearts of the kids she teaches. Kira loves to find ways to make learning fun, whether on the field or in the classroom. She has watched all three of her kids grow up playing soccer and has been able to coach a few seasons. Kira is honored and excited to bring that experience to coach the SGA girls middle school soccer team. Let’s go Spartans!
