+ Why did you choose to seek accreditation?

We want to provide the highest quality program for our students. SGA is Accredited with Quality, the highest level, by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. We know that an accredited transcript is not required for college entrance; it simply makes the process much more manageable and seamless for students and allows HOPE Scholarship eligible students to receive funding immediately upon college entry. Enrolling in our transcript program is optional, but the majority of our high school students and parents report they greatly benefit from the counsel and accountability this program provides.

+ What are the qualifications of your instructors?

You can read the bio of all of our instructors on our website. Our instructors are the heart of our program. They are all passionate about their area of teaching and want to inspire your students in their area of expertise. Most importantly they are people who love the Lord and who will care about your students.

+ How would you describe your academics?

As your student progresses through our program, he or she will be challenged academically. We do not provide official grades for our 5/6 program as we want students to delight in learning without the pressure of worrying about grades. We do, however, have high expectations and accountability built into the program at this level. We begin with formal grades/tests at the 7/8 level so that students can have time to acclimate to learning how to study, managing their time each week, improving their note-taking skills, taking tests in group settings, etc., before the stakes go up in high school and the grades “count” on a high school transcript. SGA is a college-prep program and is rigorous in its coursework because we take seriously the job of preparing your student for college.

+ What is available at SGA beyond academics?

We view SGA as a community. We are made up of students from all types of backgrounds and experiences and each one has something unique to offer. Because of the varied interests and abilities of our students, we like to offer different clubs and activities to enhance our academics. We offer various field trip opportunities as well that the whole family can participate in. Additionally, our parents support and encourage one another on a yahoo group just for SGA families. Each year we end the year with a graduation ceremony.

+ Why do you require parent participation hours?

SGA cannot function at its best capacity each week without the wonderful support of our parents. Some of the parent participation roles have been requested by the church as a protection for both SGA and FBCL. Many of the roles are designed to help ensure the safety of all our students and provide the best learning environment that we can offer. Volunteering on campus allows parents to get to know teachers and students better and also spend time in community with other SGA parents.

+ How does your cost compare with other programs?

We strive to be reasonable and competitive in pricing. There are very few programs with a lower cost than SGA and quite a few with a higher cost. We truly feel we offer a great value for the services your family will receive.

+ Why should I consider SGA over other homeschool programs?

We know that SGA is not for everyone. There are many programs available for homeschool families, who by nature have a great variety of needs and interests. We are not trying to compete with other programs. We are just trying to follow the path God has laid out for us and stay focused on our vision of providing a Christ-centered, college-prep program. We have small class numbers, providing for individual attention in the classroom. We offer “smart technology” in many of our classrooms and provide continuing education and staff development for our instructors.

+ SGA seems like a good fit for our family. How do I enroll my student?

We want to partner with parents who are seeking support to educate their children at home all the way through the high school years. We want families who understand what we are about, who have prayed and sought God’s direction, and feel that our vision can also help them fulfill their desires and goals for their students. We are trusting God to bring to SGA the families that He knows should be a part of our community.
